Amdocs Fast-tracks PCC as-a-Service Offering in the Age of Cloud and 5G

Amdocs has declared that now it can deliver PCC (Policy and Charging Control) in the cloud, manage as a service, and on-premise.

According to Amdocs, deploying Policy and/or Charging Control "as-a-Service" can fast-track the ability of the service providers to position themselves beyond their legacy core connectivity business. It will also support developing an ecosystem with a new capability ecosystem that rapidly links service requirements to business results.

This easy and cost-effective technology consumption model also authorizes service providers to easily place advanced 5G PCC functionality parallel to any legacy systems in operation. The microservices-based, cloud-native solution allows updates at a granular level constantly. When delivered as a service, Amdocs coordinates and manages the operations on behalf of the service provider. As a result, it reduces downtime risk and sudden upgrades and brings the benefit of constantly updated core network software. Amdocs Policy and Charging Control also provide the most refined mix of extremely small and extensive elastic scalability. It evolves from a highly centralized software stack expected to provide everything for all services to enormously distributed and extremely flexible edge cloud and mobile edge computing.

John Abraham, the Principal Analyst, Research, at Analysys Mason, says, "Communications service providers and vendors have been sluggish in adopting SaaS models for monetization platforms due to ambiguity and risk. Instead, they should focus on the benefits of SaaS to adopt and monetize the platforms sector."

Anthony Goonetilleke, Group President, Media, Network and Technology, Amdocs, says, "Now the service providers have the tools to quickly launch and deliver a wide range of scalable new services. These services have advanced charging and policy competencies consumable on-demand through Amdocs' as-a-Service solution. In addition, they can monetize their cloud and edge assets with exceedingly flexible and tailored usage-based approaches aimed towards large, small- and medium-size business, and a vast partner ecosystem."
