Google, Docker, CoreOS, Mesosphere form the Cloud Native Computing Foundation to standardize container tools

No fewer than 22 companies are coming together today to establish the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, a standards body that will provide shared governance for tools that companies can use when deploying applications in Linux containers — an alternative to longstanding virtual-machine technology. AT&T, Box, Cisco, Cloud Foundry, CoreOS, Cycle Computing, Docker, eBay, Goldman Sachs, Google, Huawei, IBM, Intel, Joyent, Kismatic, Mesosphere, Red Hat, Switch, Twitter, Univa, VMware, and Weaveworks are all participating as founding members of the foundation, which falls under the Linux Foundation.
