Sinequa: Third-Party Marketplaces Drive Hyperscale Cloud Growth

Because of the third-party products and services available, cloud enterprise professionals are drawn to the “big three” hyperscale clouds — Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. According to Sinequa, an intelligent search and analytics platform provider, 93% of cloud professionals polled in France, the United Kingdom, and the United States said the strength and breadth of third-party marketplaces make hyperscale clouds more appealing as a platform.”

This new research highlights the significance of third-party marketplaces and shows the competitive advantage that third-party offerings have to the "big three" hyperscale clouds: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud. According to the survey, enterprise organizations are operating eight different services obtained from a hyperscale marketplace on average, and 90% of respondents expect to purchase more products and services from these marketplaces in the future.

When asked about the main advantages of using a hyperscale marketplace, 70% of cloud professionals said convenience was a major advantage. The ability to quickly test new products and services was also viewed as a significant advantage by 50% of respondents, while 39% mentioned the availability of products as a primary reason for using a marketplace. These results highlight the benefit that hyperscale cloud providers have of being able to offer a wider range of products and services than smaller competitors.

In addition to emphasizing the advantages of hyperscale marketplaces, the research revealed which product or service categories are seeing the largest rise in demand. Blockchain is at the top of the list, with companies planning to expand their use of the blockchain by 112% in the future. Search and Information Gathering or Insights solutions are still in high demand, with companies expected to expand their use of these tools by 43% in the future. As companies shift to a hybrid working model, this trend reflects the need for high-performance solutions that integrate and improve information accessibility through various applications.

Sinequa surveyed 250 cloud professionals from the United Kingdom, the United States, and France who reported working for enterprises or large businesses. The poll, which consisted of 10 questions, was conducted on April 19, 2021.
