Ubuntu Supports Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Ampere A1 Compute

Canonical, in collaboration with Oracle, announces the release of an optimized Ubuntu image for the launch of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Ampere A1 Compute. Customers of Oracle Cloud will benefit from running the most popular cloud operating system, Ubuntu, on a secure, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure.

“Ubuntu on the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Ampere A1 Compute delivers a high-performing and cost-effective solution for all workloads.” “Ubuntu offers developers with a high-performance cloud operating system and kernel that has exceptional boot speed, strong security, and stellar stability,” said Matt Leonard, vice president of product management for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure."

The same secure Ubuntu, but with an Oracle Cloud optimized kernel and configurations. Enterprises may run traditional workloads at a lower cost by combining the benefits of Ubuntu with the performance of Oracle's new offering. The ARM-based platform is also well-suited for new use cases, such as Anbox Cloud, which enables companies to run Android at scale and securely on the cloud. As a result, Umony, a supplier of regulated market compliance communication solutions, will connect Anbox Cloud with the new Ampere A1 Compute instances.

Anbox Cloud, Canonical's solution for operating Android at scale on any cloud, benefits from the performance and density offered by OCI Ampere A1 Compute. Running hundreds of Android containers for automation use cases becomes simple and cost-effective.

Ubuntu on OCI Ampere A1 is now available in the OCI console as a platform image.
