Cloud computing is firmly established as the new normal for enterprise IT. Across industries such as manufacturing and automotive, cloud continues to be one of the fastest-growing segments of IT spend. With greater spend, however, comes greater responsibility for CIOs to invest budgets wisely, and a bigger impact if things go wrong.CIOs looking to prepare their organisation to succeed in the upcoming turns must take a differentiated approach to cloud computing. It will be essential for CIOs to develop a formal strategy that helps to put individual cloud decisions in the context of the enterprise’s strategic goals.
Now, we at DSA are amazed by VMware’s new releases. At the same time, while we feel the concept is great, we don’t understand if you run VMware on public cloud, is the cost higher than simply running on the public cloud like AWS’ native virtual machines?According to VMware’s Sanjay K. Deshmukh, Vice President and Managing Director for Southeast Asia and Korea, “If you look at a total cost of ownership for a customer to run or to migrate an existing application to cloud and you compare that in situations where they run it on native cloud and VMware cloud (VMware cloud running on AWS or any provider), when you compare this two, we have seen our customers able to reduce their total cost of ownership to the upwards of about 25 to 30%.To be specific, Sanjay said the savings are, they don’t have to re-platform any of their applications in order to run in the cloud. Customers on their journey of application modernisation or moving applications to cloud will find that the amount of effort cost and energy they are saving in re-platforming and rearchitecting their applications to the cloud is massive. The costs are upward of a million-dollar per applications or more depending on the complexity of the application.
PLG companies typically use a bottom-up approach to go after the end-user first and focus on delivering consumer-grade user experience so that users actually engage with and love the product to an extent to become product advocates. Existing users invite new users in a viral loop, reducing user acquisition costs. Users are more likely to upgrade and expand, increasing LTV and net-dollar-retention. When IT or Procurement departments get involved, the end-users already have been using the product actively, making the sale of enterprise plans a lot smoother and faster.
Continuous intelligence (CI) relies on the real-time analysis of streaming data to produce actionable insights in milliseconds to seconds. Such capabilities have applications throughout a business. In today’s dynamic marketplace, new CI applications that use data from various sources at any given time might be needed on very short notice. The challenge is how to have the flexibility to rapidly develop and deploy new CI applications to meet fast-changing business requirements. A common approach employed today is to use a dynamic architecture that delivers access to data, processing power, and analytics capabilities on demand. In the future, solutions also will likely incorporate artificial intelligence applications to complement the benefits of traditional analytics. Increasingly, cloud-native is the architecture of choice to build and deploy AI-embedded CI applications. A cloud-native approach offers benefits to both the business and developers. Cloud-native applications or services are loosely coupled with explicitly described dependencies.
