IT firms not ready yet to shift to cloud computing
Information technology companies in South Asia may not be adequately prepared to adopt cloud computing and deal with the changes it can impose on their approach to managing IT, says a study by Symantec Corp. A majority of companies rank shifting to the cloud a top concern even while acknowledging that the move will improve security of their networks and devices, says the '2011 State of Cloud Survey' on South Asia, released here on Friday. "Most organisations in the region generally believe that moving to the cloud will provide important business benefits and improve security. But they are also concerned that cloud services bring their own risks such as malware attacks and data breach from unauthorised use of cloud-based systems," said Anil Chakravarthy, senior vice-president, Storage and Availability Management Group, Symantec, a Fortune 500 company.
