Video conferencing and cloud computing boost sales at Computacenter

August 24, 2018 / Julia Bradshaw

Cloud-based computing and increasingly complex IT systems are proving a boon for digital consultancy Computacenter, whose sales rose by 18pc to just over £2bn in the first six months of its financial year.It is the first time the company’s revenues have hit the £2bn mark in any six-month period since it was founded in 1981 by British entrepreneurs Philip Hulme and Peter Ogden. The pair still own more than a fifth of Computacenter’s shares. Pre-tax profit increased by 10pc to £52m in the same period. The need for increased network capacity and greater bandwidth to support services like video-conferencing contributed to growth, according to finance director Tony Conophy.
