Oracle Buys DataFox, Pledges to Embed AI Into Everything

Oracle co-CEO Mark Hurd, in his annual Oracle OpenWorld predictions, today said by 2025 all cloud apps will include artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain. “This nonsense about these are separate solutions — that’s not how the market is going to end,” he said during his keynote.While some companies position AI as a separate product, “we see AI as a core feature that will get embedded into virtually every solution, every application,” Hurd said. And likely because of this AI strategy, Oracle also today said it signed an agreement to acquire DataFox and its cloud-based AI data engine. The AI tool continuously extracts data on more than 2.8 million public and private businesses and adds 1.2 million businesses annually. Its customers include Goldman Sachs, Bain & Company, and Twilio. Oddly, Hurd didn’t mention the DataFox deal in his keynote.
