Amazon Web Services files complaint over CIA cloud contract

Amazon Web Services (AWS) filed a complaint Wednesday with the US Federal Claims Court in response to the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) sustaining part of a protest by IBM against the awarding of a CIA cloud computing contract.IBM filed a protest with the GAO in February this year after the CIA awarded a cloud computing contract to AWS reportedly worth roughly $600m.The company challenged the evaluation process which led to AWS initially securing the contract, but in its June 6 ruling on the protest it ordered the CIA to reopen the competition for the massive cloud contract.
