Cloud, interoperability is the real distinguishing factor

If it is true that the number of companies adopting multicloud environments increases day by day, it is also true that a good percentage still struggles to ensure full interoperability between the various clouds, thus ending up not fully exploiting all the benefits of these platforms.
A recent worldwide survey conducted by IDC , which involved more than 2,000 cloud user companies, actually reveals that respondents have some difficulty effectively managing complex environments consisting of on-premise private clouds, managed private clouds ) and multiple public clouds. More than a third, exactly 36% of the sample, believe that it will not be able to achieve a significant level of interoperability, between the various clouds in use, within two years.By leveraging multiple public clouds, companies can choose the best technologies (the so-called best-of-breed), reduce costs and avoid the vendor lock-in. However, if customers do not have a unified tool to manage the various clouds, the result will be workload and data silos, thus recreating the same problems as legacy data centers. Hybrid clouds, where interoperability is the distinguishing factor, offer further advantages: reduced OPEX, better security and compliance, ease of monitoring, orchestration and management, optimal positioning of workloads, access to data for different applications, complete automation and much more.

Observer Platform Innovations From VIAVI Enhance Visibility Across Users, Applications and the Cloud
