EMC acquires DSSD, touts “breakthrough” cloud storage appliance
EMC this week entered into an agreement to acquire privately-held DSSD, a startup that has developed a rack-scale flash storage architecture for I/O-intensive applications, in-memory databases and big data workloads. The company said its acquisition of DSSD will bolster its appeal to cloud service providers and enterprises looking to run big data workloads both on premise and in the cloud.
