Fujitsu aims to simplify cloud deployment on physical servers

Fujitsu Laboratories on Friday claimed to be in the midst of developing a platform technology that enables physical servers to be configured for on-demand Infrastructure as a Service within minutes.Although the majority of today’s infrastructure as a service offerings make use of server virtualisation technology, there are some data processing-intensive applications which benefit from the high performance and reliability of physical systems – the key trade-off traditionally having been scale and on-demand resource allocation and billing. Manually configuring those physical servers and installing all of the necessary software can take up to a week.
