Google appeals to developers to grow cloud platform

Google is appealing to the developer community to submit applications for its Google Cloud Platform through a series of conferences and competitions. The company is preparing for DevFest 2013, a follow up to last year’s series of community-run developer conferences aimed at engaging developers globally. Last year, Google Development Groups – international chapters consisting of coordinated groups of developers coding for the Google platform – hosted 77 DevFests globally across 41 countries. About 14,000 developers participated with the coordinated meet-ups, and the company is trying to encourage GDG chapters to host their own DevFests year-round.
