Tata Communications launches cloud-based video transcoding and delivery service

Tata Communications, a leading provider of communications technology announced Tuesday the launch of what the company claims to be the world’s first cloud-based broadcast quality video transcoding and delivery service.The technology was developed in partnership with Harmonic, a company that designs and manufactures multimedia delivery systems, and is being positioned by Tata Communications as a cost-effective delivery system that can also help tackle piracy by enabling simultaneous syndicated broadcast globally.“Content creators, service providers and media professionals are under tremendous pressure to maximise the return on their investments, as pirated content can be so easily accessed on illegal websites,” said Sameer Kanse, business head of Tata Communications’ Media Services.
