Telstra plans to outsource 170 cloud jobs to India

Australian operator Telstra has announced plans to outsource 170 jobs from its cloud services division to India. The jobs will be primarily moved from the firm’s profitable and growing Network Applications and Services division, and will affect IT and resource management staff.According to the Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU), the cuts represent a seven per cent reduction in the workforce and will impact staff in most capital cities. Teresa Davison, spokeswoman for the union, said staff are deeply upset, and claimed that customer service will be affected by outsourcing to India.
