Accenture is helping Navitaire, an Amadeus company providing technology and business services to the airline industry, accelerate its cloud-first transformation journey, enabling the full migration of Navitaire’s application suite to the Microsoft Azure platform in just 24 months.
The collaboration — in which Accenture is teaming with Avanade, its joint venture with Microsoft — is key to helping Navitaire achieve its long-term cloud strategy centered on customer innovation and improved flexibility, responsiveness, efficiency and scale, benefits that have become even more critical during the COVID-19 pandemic recovery.
Accenture will assist Navitaire in further integrating new technology capabilities such as advanced analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as technology from its ecosystem partners, to help improve Navitaire’s clients’ ability to create new products and services for their customers.
The team has already completed foundation builds in three Azure regions, with the fourth region targeted for the first quarter of 2022, and migrated New Skies, Navitaire’s industry-leading reservations platform, to the cloud. This gives airlines access to new cloud services and improved system performance.

Intelsat, operator of one of the world’s largest and most advanced integrated satellite and terrestrial networks, today announced the successful demonstration of a first of its kind private cellular network with Microsoft Azure Private Multi-Access Edge Compute and FlexEnterprise, Intelsat’s satellite-based global connectivity service.
Held at Intelsat’s office in McLean, VA, the demonstration successfully establishes a reference architecture for deploying secure, high-performance private LTE and 5G networks and other cloud services over satellite networks to enterprise locations virtually anywhere globally, including those in remote and austere environments.
The demonstration creates a private LTE service using Azure Private 5G Core deployed on an Azure Stack Edge device. Connectivity to the internet and Azure services is enabled by Intelsat’s FlexEnterprise. Via the private cellular network, users can access local enterprise resources via SIM-authenticated connections to the Azure Stack Edge and access remote resources through the FlexEnterprise connection, the IntelsatOne global network and Azure. Additionally, the LTE network powers a Wi-Fi access point and IoT applications.

Locix, a leading Warehouse Spatial Intelligence solution provider, today announced a strategic joint agreement with LAPIS Technology Co., Ltd., a ROHM Semiconductor Group subsidiary, to develop and commercialize wireless LSI-enabled cloud services aimed to address critical challenges in the supply chain and logistics industry.
The industry is facing unprecedented levels of demand amid labor shortages, limited logistics real estate, strained transportation systems, and market constraints. According to a survey by Korn Ferry, nearly 100% of respondents from the retail industry said they are having challenges hiring distribution center employees with 40% having “significant challenges” and 57% having “moderate trouble.” Further, a recent report released by Prologis, a global leader in logistics real estate, stated that warehouse space availability has reached 3.9%, an all-time low. To help alleviate these challenges, Locix and LAPIS will collaborate to provide unique WSI solutions, which will improve the overall productivity, efficiency, space, and dock utilization in warehouses.
The joint WSI solutions will initially integrate LAPIS’s Low Power Wide Area and ultra-high frequency radio frequency identification LSI with the Locix Cloud. The LPWA-enabled solution will provide a low-cost, reliable, and durable way to send the precise location of trucks en route to warehouses to the Locix Cloud. The truck’s outdoor location data will be integrated with Locix’s indoor positioning system and HD vision system to improve loading dock visibility, efficiency, and utilization while enabling new operational analytics.
