Wipro Unveils a New “Cloud Car” Platform; Aims to Accelerate the Deployment of Software-Defined Vehicles

Wipro’s Cloud Car platform will bring together its Wipro FullStride Cloud Services and engineering capabilities with a best-in-class partner ecosystem as well as consortiums. A first in the industry, the platform will deliver auto makers an integrated, cloud-native software solution—equipped with an end-to-end cybersecurity system—to help them innovate faster at a lower cost and keep software-defined vehicles (SDVs) digitally relevant for years.

Wipro’s Cloud Car platform will decouple previously integrated software and hardware, enabling manufacturers to validate and upgrade software at an unmatched digital scale. As a result, generations of owners will be able to customize their vehicles based on their unique and changing needs. Automobile manufacturers, on the other hand, will be able to address software failures via over-the-air updates, without having to resort to physical recalls. The ‘always-on,’ ‘feature-on-demand’ functionality will come with a robust cyber security and functional safety architecture and will help increase vehicles’ residual value.

The Cloud Car platform will also leverage a ‘shadow mode’ architecture, working passively in the background, gathering and consolidating data from sensors and cameras as well as the driver, which, over time, will help with the validation and safety of autonomous functionalities.

Xanadu launches first public cloud-deployed computer with quantum computational advantage

Xanadu has demonstrated quantum computational advantage using Borealis, their newest photonic quantum computer. It is the first photonic quantum computer offering full programmability of all its gates to demonstrate quantum computational advantage, and the first time that a machine capable of quantum advantage has been made available to the public in the cloud. This achievement, published in Nature, is a significant milestone on the path to building a large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computer, and a pivotal step in Xanadu's mission to build quantum computers that are useful and available to people everywhere. Quantum computational advantage is achieved when a quantum computer outperforms the world's fastest supercomputers, running the best known algorithms, on a well-defined task. Borealis synthesizes a quantum state of 216 squeezed-state qubits, entangled in three dimensions according to the user's specified program. It then generates samples from this state at a rate exceeding the capabilities of any existing classical supercomputer. Using direct simulation, the fastest supercomputer in the world would take approximately 9,000 years to generate a single such sample, compared to 36 microseconds for Borealis. This runtime advantage is more than 50 million times larger than that of earlier photonic demonstrations. "We are thrilled to have deployed quantum computational advantage on the cloud publicly for the very first time for users around the world, This is another big milestone for quantum computing.
